We would like to state the importance of understanding some of our materials that we use. Timber is a natural material and there is always going to be some form of natural movement when it is in different environments or changes of temperature. Wood is a beautifully living source of life, which is proudly present in your home or chosen area, meaning like anything in everyday life there will be natural changes. Do not worry when this happens as it is completely normal and a natural occurrence. We will be happy to give any advice if this occurs.

Wood will decide to expand or shrink no matter of the area it is placed/stored in this is due to temperature, environment and moisture levels. As a result, you may incur some form of cracking. We try to help treat the wood by drying it in the right environment to make it more durable but there will always be a means to maintain. We are always happy to help with any questions about how to care and maintain your product/furniture or you can also check out our care/ maintenance guide.

Our furniture/cabinets/interiors are either painted, oiled or stained dependent on the finish. However, with time you may find that the colour may differ/change due to the exposure and reaction to natural sun light and moisture within the room. Across the board you may find that because the paint we use is made up of pigments there may be a difference in batches of paint, causing a slight variant of colour.

We would like to reassure you that we try our upmost best to make sure that every product we produce is designed and crafted in a way that will make your product last. However, at times as the materials we use are natural, such as timber there may be movement and change in colour or texture. Although the mature of colour and texture over time may be a stand out aspect to give a beautiful matured finish to the colour of the timber.

Understanding that timber is a natural source of material is key. Timber does at times crack, stain and may have the possibility of being scratched or damaged by yourself or others. We try to prevent this by using drying methods and other appropriate steps to protect your product but please find at times this may occur.

As timber is a natural product it will always move as the timber adapts to the environment to which it is homed. During the seasons and over time timber may shrink or expand due to the temperature of the room and the humidity levels. At Sutherland Cabinets we use our experience and different techniques to help to try to prevent this movement. Please be aware that even the smallest of changes to your product are completely normal when owning a product with timber and is nothing to worry about.

At times other materials may show signs of cracks or movement such as at the join, this is the movement from the temperature and moisture within the room. However, please note we try our upmost best to try and prevent this but if there is slight movement this is not something to worry about and can happen within furniture products.

Timber doors or fronts may at times expand this may affect the opening of the door. This is due to the timber adjusting to the temperature and moisture levels. This can be a natural process but try not to worry and give us a message and we can offer our advise. The door may instead shrink and this also is a natural process that can occur. We try our upmost best to try and prevent this but at times this can be near impossible because it always depends on the temperature and moisture conditions within your room.

The grain and colour of wood may look slightly different per piece this is the nature of having a finished timber that you can see the grain. We try to match each piece with the similar running grain, colour lightness or darkness of each piece but please find every piece of wood is different so will not look completely the same.

The colour of your product can change over time as the paint reacts to the natural sun light, moisture levels and changes of temperatures. If you do plan to paint your cabinets again it is advised to give your paint a thorough stir and for a better finish to repaint the full product rather than repainting or patching an area. At times batches of paint can be different when made, due to the natural pigments and variance in colour that may be found across a range of batches. If you need any advice on paint and colours please get in touch with a member of our team.

At times on our website the colour or image may look different to the actual product this may be due to lighting, the screen or the angle the picture has been taken from.
